Smt. Pusthakam Ramaa
Srikar has been learning Carnatic Vocal music from Smt. Ramaa since 2022.
Smt. Pusthakam Ramaa, hailing from a family of music, her mother Indira was her first teacher. Later she continued her training under the able guidance of Vidushi Nagamani Srinath and Sri. R.K.Srikantan.
Smt. Ramaa is a Top Grade Artiste of All India Radio. Smt. Ramaa’s intuitive excellence in concert with a vibrant professionalism, admirable approach enriched with devotion and dedication has made her an exceptional artist.
She has produced ‘Sri Ramanuja Vaibhavam’, a Musical Dance Ballet for Sri Ramanujacharya’s 1000th year celebration and toured all over India with the production. She has also produced a grand Musical Drama on ‘Bangalore Nagarathnamma’, a great singer who built the Thyagaraja Temple at Thiruvaiyaru.
She has performed all over the world, and given vocal support to famous artists like Kelucharan mohapathra, Hemamalini, Adeyar Lakshman, C.S.Chandrashekhar, Prathibha Prahlad, and Swapna Sundari.
For her excellent contribution towards music and dance field, Smt. Ramaa has received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in music for dance. The Sangeetha Nrithya Academy has conferred the ‘KARNATAKA KALASHREE’ award on her.
She has also received Ananya Award, Gaana Varidhi Award, Life time Achievement Award from GEEVA Foundation and the Mayor of Louisville, Kentucky has honored her as an Honorary Citizen of Louisville.
She recently received Kempegowda Award Gaana kala Suvarna and Kala Jyothi Award.
She has many audio records to her credit. She also teaches music to many students in India and abroad through Skype. Ramaa’s rich mellifluous voice with the effortless reach through the octaves has a charismatic blend of unique melody, depth of understanding and a soul stirring appeal to the listeners.
Smt. Ramaa is dedicating her time and money for promoting art through her organization SANGEETHA SAMBRHAMA. Every year she conducts international music and dance festival showcasing artists of high caliber and provides opportunity to upcoming artists.
